Philip I – posthumous coinage
Posthumous coinage in the name of Philip I started sometime in the period c. 69 BC – 57 BC. The early series were minted either by Philip II or by the civic authorities of Antioch on the Orontes or by the Roman administration before the proconsulship of Aulus Gabinius. Later series were minted since 57 BC to 14/3 BC by the Roman administration at Antioch.

There is a unique bronze coin purportedly of Seleukos IV (SNG Fitzwilliam, 5604) whose legend includes the epithet Philopator, which does not appear on other Seleukos IV’s coins. However, this coin is most likely a modern confection, see SC II, p. 34.
